| So as many of you know, I was laid off from my job at the hospital in January. I am happy to report that I started a new job yesterday after 6 months of searching. I am working at a Law Firm in the records department. My official title is Conflicts/New Matter Clerk, and it's pretty interesting so far. I miss working at the hospital because all I had to do was through on a pair of scrubs and drive 5 minutes down the street. Now I have to dress business casual and take a 30 minute train ride to Center City. But I'm making a little more than I did at the hospital and I feel this is a great opportunity for me.

| As posted on my DeviantArt journal:
Just so you know, this is NOT an April Fools joke, though I wish it were. My mom's car engine caught fire today. We were coming back from an afternoon out and heading to Walmart. For about the past 15 minutes we had been smelling something really bad, but there was a truck behind us so we figured it was from that. We were turning the corner not too far from our house when all this smoke began to pour in my closed window. I looked out and saw it was coming from the hood and shouted to my mom, so she managed to pull over and we got out. By this time the smoke was rising up and was turning black. I looked under the car and saw orange flame reflections on the liquid on the ground.
Luckily, the fire station was literally across the street so they came over about 2 minutes later to put out the fire. They must have spent about 6 or 7 minutes pouring water over the engine. Fortunately, my mom and I are both fine. The firefighters think it may have been electrical, but my mom just had work done on the van and had it inspected, so we think they might have missed something. The van is 13 years old, so it may have just been it's time to go. Almost the entire engine area is melted, so the entire van is getting scrapped. My mom's pretty upset because she's had it for 13 years.
Here are some pictures of the damage:

| It's been 2 months since I got laid off and I have yet to find a job. I joined a temporary staffing company, so hopefully they can find some jobs for me. I've applied for about 60 jobs since June, and the only 2 places that called me for an interview were too far away for me to get to. There's a publishing company near me that looks interesting, so I'm going to write to them and see if they're hiring.
Other than being jobless, everything else seems to be going fine. I just made bread =)

| I just got laid off from my job :( Today was the start of the massive layoffs at the hospital's 3 campuses, so they were letting go 4 of us in my office. My boss called me into her office about an hour ago, and I pretty much guessed what was happening since my other coworker had left 30 minutes earlier in tears. My boss told me that I was a good worker and they hated to lose me, then I started crying, then she started crying.
I went back to the office to get my things and say goodbye, and everyone else stared crying and hugging me and telling me that they were really going to miss me. Even people I didn't know that well were crying. There were a few people I didn't get to say goodbye to since they were either out of the office or off today. I don't know who the other 2 people in my office who were getting laid off where, but I'm sure I'll find out. They're also supposed to lay off 80 nurses!!
I'm really sad because I loved working there. Everyone was so nice to me, most days the work wasn't too bad, and I had a fun time making new friends. I'm getting 2 pays worth of severance pay, then I think I can apply for unemployment. Looking on the bright side, this means that I can concentrate on looking for a full time job.

| So I've gotten prodded to update.
Not much to talk about really. Things are going great with Greg. We're approaching our 9 month mark. Still looking for a full time job, but luckily still working at summer job. Umm...friends are still in school. Ohh, I've already started buying Christmas gifts. You can never start too early ;) I'm saving up to move out...don't know when that will happen.
I guess that's about it for now. Hope everyone is doing well!
